Social media Calender

What is a Social Media Calendar and Why should we use them?

Social media marketing goals takes effort and attention every single day. By utilizing a social media calendar, it lets you plan ahead, split up your workload, avoid multitasking, and note down all your creative brain juices for later. Basically it’s the best way to make sure you’ll never find yourself desperately scrolling through generic inspirational quotes hoping to find something to post ever again.

And even though you’ll be posting every day, maybe multiple times a day, that doesn’t mean you need to be constantly on your social media platform feeds.

  1. Post consistently -  Consistently showing up in your audience’s feed is the key to engaging them on social. Impressive engagement increases your organic reach via the platform’s algorithm, so your posts get shown to new eyes, and new people start following your brand.

  2. Don’t miss out on relevant moments - A social media calendar allows you to strategically observe worldwide global moments that are relevant to your brand’s audience. ( Such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday etc)

  3. Make higher-quality contentA social media calendar helps you allocate your assets—both human and digital—effectively, so that your team has the breathing room to do their best work. And a long-term vision means you’re pushing a consistent brand voice and content that supports your marketing goals.

  4. Track what works, and improve it - A social media content calendar provides the opportunity to schedule your experiments towards improvement. It gives me the chance to plan out A/B testings until I find the right combination for the type of content, format, post frequency, and best time of day to post for each social platform.

Round 1

As for round 1, I didn't do enough research and rushed through the content curation process. If I were to do this simulation again, I will make sure to do enough research on social media marketing such as looking at famous travel bag brands like Herschel, Jansport and Kanken.  Subsequently, plan out the content throughout the week before running the simulation.

Round 3

As for round 3, I did some research and decided to add in hashtags. I also followed the timings and frequency chart as closely as possible to post on different social media account.

Round 5

As for round 5, I decided to target only 3 main customer segments that have the largest percentage in the market. Namely Back-to-school Mindy, and I combined City-Hopper Sue, Energetic Jill, and DayPacker Tom under Travellers. I also focused on 4 main social media platforms which are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. I also decided to add in a week-long Halloween  Giveaway and new product postings.

Round 11

As for the last round, I decided to place my focus on promoting travel bags to travelers as they are the most expensive items that Buhi Supply Co sells. Also, use a limited-time contest to encourage audiences to engage with the brand along with Thanksgiving new product launches, and sales.
